Job summary

Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is seeking a Guest Service Supervisor – Café Lead to support exceptional guest service within Café Phipps. You will open/close the café, supervise staff, manage inventory, handle cash, and ensure food safety.

This role requires leadership, strong guest relations, and the ability to work evenings and weekends. Two-year degree in retail or food service and 2+ years in food service/supervisory roles are preferred, with certification requirements

Qualifications

• Two-year degree in retail management or food service preferred, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Minimum of 2 years relevant and increasingly responsible experience in food service and/or supervisory roles.
• Must have or be able to complete RAMP and ServSafe food safety certification within their first 30 days of employment.
• Experience in museum environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead by example to create platinum-level guest experience.
• Open and close Café Phipps; manage day-to-day operations including cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and safety.
• Monitor and manage inventory levels; place new orders as needed.
• Manage cash drawers; verify transactions; investigate discrepancies; complete paperwork.
• Ensure all food safety and sanitation guidelines are followed; monitor temperature logs.
• Maintain daily maintenance and cleaning of espresso machine.
• Regularly clean café tables between guest use.
• Train and supervise employees.
• Assist with scheduling for Café coverage.
• Respond to guest inquiries; de-escalate conflicts and offer solutions.
• Cross-train on admissions and gift shop procedures and operations, including opening and closing.
• Perform data entry and end-of-day reporting; sales and inventory reports.
• Perform other activities and duties as required.
