Job summary

Randolph County seeks a Senior Planner to manage the addressing system and support GIS mapping for planning and public safety. This role serves as backup for the permitting counter and assists with map creation for public hearings.

The ideal candidate has an associate/technical GIS degree with 1–3 years of GIS experience, along with strong cartographic knowledge and the ability to train staff and prepare reports. The position reports to the Planning & Zoning Director.

Qualifications

  • Associate/technical degree in GIS or related field with 1–3 years GIS experience in planning or public safety.
  • Thorough knowledge of automated mapping and GIS concepts and cartographic principles.
  • Ability to train employees in GIS operations and to prepare written and oral presentations.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and prepare various reports for the department.

Responsibilities

  • Assist staff, citizens and agencies with E-911 addressing.
  • Create and maintain backup addressing files and reference materials.
  • Notify and follow up on the addressing ordinance and procedures.
  • Create new locations on maps and track road changes and signage projects.
  • Assist with the permitting counter and public hearings mapping.
  • Prepare maps for public meetings and neighborhood information sessions.
  • Enforce Randolph County safety standards and regulations.
