Job summary

Chaves County is seeking a GIS Mapper to support the County assessor with digital mapping and GIS data entry. The role involves updating parcel maps, entering data, and producing GIS outputs such as shape files and plots.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED with five years in related work, plus knowledge of GIS tools like ARC/Editor, ArcView GIS, AutoCAD, and Sidwell Parcel Builder. A NM driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with five (5) years combined experience in related area.
• Education/Training/Experience: Up to four (4) years of college/48 hours of course work in a related field can be substituted for four (4) years’ experience.
• Valid NM driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Desirable Qualifications: Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in geography, computer science or related field. Knowledge of ARC/Editor, ArcView GIS, AutoCAD, Sidwell Parcel Builder or other related software applications helpful. Minimum of five (5) years’ experience.

Responsibilities

• Reviews, prepares, creates and updates parcel property maps.
• Enters data into system.
• Reviews and plots deeds on GIS system.
• Creates shape files and feature classes.
• Reviews approved subdivisions, surveys and summary plats and plots information into the GIS system.
• Resolves GIS/mapping problems and data entry errors.
• Maintains accurate and organized files.
• Responds to inquiries from the public and other departments in a courteous and timely manner by phone, email or in person.
• Operates plotter, printer or other output devices.
