Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Drafting Intern in Chattanooga, TN. You will revise drawings and prepare basic component drawings from instructions or sketches, plot drawings, and learn drafting standards used by our clients.

Opportunities span multiple market segments; candidates should be enrolled in a CAD/engineering tech program with strong communication and problem solving skills. On-site internship with travel up to 5% may apply.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of certificate, Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer-Aided Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related degree.
• Currently enrolled and in good standing in a post-secondary program in a related field.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Prior internship or related consulting experience preferred.
• Active involvement in campus, community or volunteer activities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Basic knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Self-motivated and eager to learn, with aptitude to grow in the field.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States full-time without future sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Revise existing drawings and prepare drawings of basic components from instructions or sketches.
• Plot drawings and learn company/client drafting standards and procedures.
• Support drafting activities across market segments with project work.
