Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Drafting Intern to revise drawings and prepare components from verbal or written instructions. You will learn and apply drafting standards while supporting multiple market segments and locations.

The role emphasizes CAD software use, strong communication, and a proactive learner attitude; pursuing a CAD/Engineering Technology degree is preferred, with a minimum 3.0 GPA and prior internship experience beneficial.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of certificate, Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Computer-Aided Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related degree.
• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary education program related to the work.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Prior internship or related consulting experience preferred.
• Active involvement in campus or community activities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Self-motivated with eagerness to learn and grow in the field.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States full-time without future visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Revise existing drawings and prepare drawings of basic components from instructions or sketches.
• Plot drawings and ensure standards and procedures are followed.
• Learn practices of a selected discipline and support project work.
• Assist with assigned duties across market segments and locations.
