Job summary

Acker Merrall & Condit is seeking a Technical Service Representative to support sales and engineering in preparing accurate quotes and technical documentation for chimney exhaust and grease duct systems.

The role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret architectural and mechanical drawings. Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks is preferred, with knowledge of NFPA 96 and UL standards a plus.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks for technical drawing and design.
• Prior experience in estimating, quoting, or mechanical drafting (preferably stainless steel fabrication or HVAC).
• Knowledge of chimney exhaust, grease duct systems, or ventilation products is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to analyze complex mechanical drawings.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes, material properties, and sheet metal fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Review project specifications, blueprints, and mechanical plans to determine material and design requirements for chimney exhaust and grease duct systems.
• Provide accurate and timely quotations based on customer requirements, material costs, and labor estimates.
• Utilize AutoCAD and SolidWorks to create detailed technical drawings and system layouts.
• Collaborate with the sales team to ensure designs align with customer expectations and code compliance.
• Assist customers, engineers, and contractors with product selection and technical inquiries.
• Maintain knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including NFPA 96, UL 1978, and UL 2221 for grease ducts.
• Prepare and update documentation, including installation instructions, submittals, and engineering specifications.
• Work closely with manufacturing to ensure feasibility and accuracy of quoted designs.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities in designs without compromising quality or compliance.
