Job summary

Dixon Fire, a division of The Dixon Group, is seeking a CAD Drafter to join our Winchester, VA engineering team. You will create 3D models and detailed drawings of couplings, valves, and components using SolidWorks, and collaborate with engineers and production to ensure proper fit and manufacturability.

This role requires a high school diploma, the ability to read complex documents, knowledge of drawing standards and tolerancing, and the ability to learn new products and software.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.
• Understanding of drawing standards and tolerancing methods.
• Familiarity with machine design details such as threads, nuts, bolts, and welds.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to quickly learn about new products and software.
• Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of problems.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks.
• Collaborate and communicate directly with engineers and production staff.
• Create assemblies and ensure the mechanical fit of all components.
• Coordinate the proper creation of item types, manufacturability requirements, and bills of materials.
• Self-check completed assignments and cross-check coworkers' completed assignments.
• Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to ensure product manufacturability.
• Select materials and calculate weights and volumes.
• Generate new designs from concept to completion while considering manufacturability and cost.
• Support standard products and perform special customer project work.

CAD Drafter
Location: 325 Arbor Court, Winchester, VA 22602
Work Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
Pay Range: $20.00 - $26.00/hour

Dixon Fire, a proud division of The Dixon Group, is seeking a CAD Drafter to join our engineering team at our facility in Winchester, Virginia!In this role, you will apply mechanical engineering principles to design couplings, connections, valves, machines and their components. You will work closely with engineering and production to update models and drawings based on requested changes.

• Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.)
