Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a Co-Op/Intern in Pulaski, VA to develop CAD drawings and 3D models. The role focuses on using CAD to create and update 3D inventory parts, assemblies, and 2D AutoCAD Electrical drawings, building a foundation for your future career.

You will learn to revise drawings, support facilities and equipment documents, and perform essential CAD tasks with AutoCAD Electrical, Civil3D, Inventor, and Vault while gaining exposure to electrical concepts.

Qualifications

• Completed at least one year toward an AAS in drafting/CAD or related engineering technology.
• Familiar with conventional drafting symbols and drafting methods.
• Able to distinguish colors.

Responsibilities

• Create, revise and maintain engineering drawings and sketches.
• Support the creation, revision, and maintenance of facilities and equipment documents.
• Obtain information from sketches, field notes, catalogs and site visits.
• Perform mathematical calculations.
• Proficiency in CAD software: AutoCAD Electrical, Civil3D, Inventor, Vault.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Read vendor prints and operating instructions and incorporate information into work.
• Demonstrate ethical behavior per AEP policies.
• Assume other duties as assigned.
• Understand basic electricity.
