Job summary

Aerotek is hiring a Cable Technician for a greenfield construction site in Scottsboro, AL. You will pull and route low-voltage cable, including Cat6 and OSP, using power and hand tools to meet safety and performance standards.

Responsibilities include measuring and cutting cable to spec, maintaining tidy work areas, and coordinating with other technicians to resolve installation challenges while adhering to OSHA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Experience with low-voltage wiring and cabling installations.
• Ability to read a tape measure and cut cable to spec.
• Familiarity with Cat6 and OSP cable types is a plus.

Job Title: Cable Technician

Job Description

This role focuses on pulling wire and cable in a greenfield construction environment to support the build-out of a new operational facility. You will work on low-voltage wiring and cabling, using a variety of tools and equipment to ensure all installations meet safety, quality, and performance standards.

Responsibilities

• Pull wire and cable throughout a greenfield construction site to support the build-out of operational infrastructure.
• Install and route low-voltage wiring and cabling, including Cat6 and OSP (outside plant) cable, in accordance with project specifications.
• Use construction tools, power tools, and hand tools safely and effectively to complete cable installation tasks.
• Measure and cut cable accurately using a tape measure and other measuring devices to ensure proper fit and layout.
• Assist in setting up, organizing, and maintaining work areas to support efficient cable installation and construction activities.
• Follow safety standards and practices, including OSHA guidelines, to maintain a safe work environment.
• Collaborate with other technicians and construction personnel to coordinate cable runs and resolve installation challenges.
• Inspect installed cables and wiring for proper routing, secure fastening, and compliance with project requirements.
• Document work performed as needed and communicate progress or issues to the appropriate team members.

Essential Skills

• Experience with low-voltage wiring and cabling, including installation and routing.
• Ability to work in a construction environment and perform physical tasks such as pulling and routing cable.
• Proficiency using power tools and hand tools safely and effectively.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for cutting and installing cable.
• Knowledge of Cat6 and OSP (outside plant) cable types and basic installation practices.
• Understanding of OSHA safety principles and willingness to follow safety guidelines on site.
• General technical aptitude suitable for a technician-level role (GTW for Tech 1).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Background in low-voltage (Low Volt) systems and installations.
• Familiarity with construction processes and working alongside other trades.
• OSHA 10 certification or knowledge of OSHA 10 safety standards is beneficial.
• Ability to work overtime when required to meet project deadlines.

Work Environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Scottsboro, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00/hr.
