Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Fiber Technician II / Fiber Splicer to support fiber optic infrastructure projects across client environments. The role covers installation, splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of optic networks, with moderate independence.

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience with fusion splicing, fiber testing, and network deployments in fast-paced field settings, and will mentor junior technicians while coordinating with internal teams and vendors.

Qualifications

• 2–3+ years of experience in fiber optic, telecom, or network infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with fiber installation, routing, termination and fusion splicing.
• Experience testing and troubleshooting fiber with OTDRs, light sources, power meters, and certification equipment.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice, test, troubleshoot and maintain fiber optic networks across client environments.
• Mentor junior technicians and collaborate with internal teams and vendors.
• Support project delivery with moderate independence and ensure successful execution.

Job description

• 2–3+ years of experience in fiber optic, telecom, network infrastructure,
• Hands-on experience with fiber optic cable installation, routing, termination, and fusion splicing
• Experience performing fiber testing and troubleshooting using tools such as OTDRs, light source/power meters, VFLs, and fiber certification equipment
• Strong understanding of fiber optic network standards, cable management, pathway installation, and industry best practices
• Ability to read and interpret splice diagrams, fiber schematics, test results, and technical documentation

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Associate's degree or equivalent technical/military experience
• Experience with single-mode and multimode fiber, MPO/MTP connectivity, and fiber distribution systems
• Familiarity with both inside plant (ISP) and outside plant (OSP) fiber environments
• Experience with structured cabling installations, including copper and fiber infrastructure
• OSHA, CFOT, BICSI, FOA, NFPA 70E, or other relevant safety/industry certifications
