This is a Contract to Hire on-site Cable Technician position at QTS Data Center in Cedar Rapids, IA. You will work with blueprints, mount server racks, pull fiber optic cables, and ensure correct cable dressing while training is provided for entry-level candidates.

The role emphasizes mechanical aptitude, teamwork, and adherence to safety protocols on an active construction site with standard 5x10-hour shifts and occasional Saturday duties.

Job Description:

• We are seeking mechanically inclined and skilled construction candidates to join our team at QTS data center in Cedar Rapids, IA. As a Cable Technician, you will work with blueprints and use hand and power tools to assemble and mount trays, server racks, and pull fiber optic cable. You will perform various tasks, including scanning inventory, unpacking materials, building server racks, installing servers and switches, and running cable. Training will be provided. This position is entry-level, offering a great opportunity to enter the data center industry.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and mount trays and server racks using blueprints.

• Pull and run fiber optic cable from point A to point B.

• Dress fiber cable.

Essential Skills

Work Environment:

• This is a fully on-site position in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, performed on an active construction site. The job requires adherence to safety protocols and the wearing of PPE, including steel-toed boots, hard hats, safety glasses, and gloves. The schedule consists of five 10-hour shifts from Monday to Friday, 7am to 5:30pm, with occasional Saturdays if needed. The environment is an assembly line atmosphere for the build-out of server racks.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
