Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for the Cable Magnets team. You will own hardware from concept to delivery, develop design notes, specs, and documentation to manufacture and install Cable Magnet hardware and supporting systems.

You will support procurement and assist production and assembly teams to meet milestones. You will have a bachelor’s in mechanical/ aerospace engineering, 5+ years of design/analysis experience, CAD NX proficiency, and FEA experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of engineering design and analysis experience.
• Hands-on experience with high-load or extreme environments.
• CAD proficiency with NX; FEA experience (ANSYS/COMSOL).

Responsibilities

• Own cable magnet hardware for SPARC, ARC, ensuring designs are completed, validated, procured, built, and installed.
• Iterate on concepts using physics, structural mechanics, and analysis for metals and composites.
• Collaborate with R&D, analysis, manufacturing, and procurement to hit milestones.
• Prepare reports and documentation for validation of final Cable Magnet systems.
