Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Cable Magnets to own hardware from concept to delivery. You will design, analyze thermal, structural, and electromagnetic aspects, and prepare documentation for manufacture and installation.

You will also support procurement, assist production teams, and mentor junior engineers while advancing engineering best practices in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or related field.
• Strong CAD/FEA fundamentals and design understanding.
• Experience with production hardware and manufacturing changes.

Responsibilities

• Own cable magnet hardware from concept to delivery for SPARC/ARC projects.
• Develop design concepts and perform thermal, structural, and EM analyses.
• Create design notes, specs, and manufacturing documentation.
• Support procurement and assist production teams during build/installation.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.
