Job summary

CLA is seeking a Controller to join its CAAS (Client Accounting & Advisory Services) practice in Nashville. You will work directly with client teams to establish internal controls, manage budgeting and cash activities, and prepare financial statements for client organizations.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s degree (CPA preferred), 7+ years of accounting/financial experience, and strong Excel/QuickBooks skills. This is an in-office role with some travel to client sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; CPA preferred but not required.
• 7+ years of accounting/financial experience; public accounting preferred.
• Proficiency with accounting software; QuickBooks highly preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.

Responsibilities

• Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for budget administration, cash/credit management, and accounting.
• Coordinate and direct financial planning, budgeting, procurements, or investment activities and prepare financial information.
• Prepare and/or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, budgets, or reports for regulatory agencies.
• Evaluate needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and make recommendations.
• Monitor ratios and KPIs to assess financial performance and health.
• Monitor and evaluate performance of accounting staff and implement actions as needed.
• Advise management on short- and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
• Communicate with boards, bankers, investors, and other stakeholders; prepare/host board presentations.
