Job summary

Cadence Design Systems is seeking a Software Engineer II to contribute to meshing capabilities for MSC Apex, an early-career role suitable for a recent graduate with a master’s degree or a candidate with foundational software engineering experience.

You will work with guidance from senior engineers to implement and test CAE preprocessing, surface and volume meshing, and related workflows in C++, gaining expertise in meshing algorithms and engineering software development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS, ME, computational engineering, or related field.
• 2–4 years of relevant software engineering experience or master’s with minimal experience.
• Foundational knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and OO design.
• Experience in C++ for engineering, scientific computing, or CAE preprocessing is preferred.
• Familiarity with meshing or CAE tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and maintain meshing software features for CAE products.
• Contribute to surface and volume meshing, mesh quality improvement, and preprocessing workflows.
• Translate requirements into reliable C++ code.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features and resolve defects.
• Write unit and regression tests and improve software quality.
• Investigate defects and performance issues using debugging techniques.
