Job summary

Cadence Design Systems is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to provide hands-on technical leadership in the Geometry domain for MSC Apex. You will design, develop, and deliver advanced geometry capabilities for CAE preprocessing, model preparation, defeaturing, geometry cleanup, healing, and interoperability workflows.

This senior individual contributor role also mentors engineers, participates in architecture reviews, and collaborates with product and QA teams to ensure robust, scalable geometry

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience delivering commercial or enterprise software in CAD/CAE/geometry domains.
• Strong expertise in computational geometry, topology, CAD modeling concepts, and B-rep data structures.
• Extensive experience in C++ development for large-scale engineering and geometry-intensive applications.
• Experience designing robust geometry algorithms and production-quality components for model prep and preprocessing workflows.
• Familiarity with CAE workflows including meshing handoff, solver readiness, and customer usability needs.
• Experience with CAD/CAE products or geometry platforms like MSC Apex, Patran, CATIA, SolidWorks, NX, Parasolid, or equivalent.
• Ability to balance design quality, performance, robustness, and delivery commitments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver advanced geometry capabilities for CAE products with robustness and performance.
• Lead feature-level work for geometry modeling, defeaturing, cleanup, healing, and interoperability workflows.
• Participate in design reviews, feasibility analysis, risk assessment, debugging, and performance optimization.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, QA, and engineering teams to translate customer workflows into technical solutions.
• Mentor engineers on geometry algorithms, code quality, testing strategy, and best practices.
• Investigate defects, interoperability issues, and performance bottlenecks, driving timely resolutions.
• Communicate design trade-offs and status clearly to stakeholders.
