• Access data via computer systems and initiate online parts/discrepancy requests.
• Maintain required certifications, licenses, and permits.

Job Title: C-17 Structures Mechanic

Job Description

An exciting opportunity awaits for an Associate Structures Mechanic to join a dedicated team in San Antonio, TX, working on Boeing Global Services' C-17 aircraft. This role involves performing critical structural modifications and repairs, ensuring the aircraft's safety and functionality.

Responsibilities

• Perform close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation to critical support structures and fracture critical areas.


• Locate blind holes necessary for the installation of new structural items to existing structures.


• Conduct sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving of structure according to standard repair processes.


• Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specifications, and retrofit requirements for structural modification and repair.


• Utilize tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot-level modification and repair of structural parts.


• Troubleshoot and repair aircraft mechanical components and replace parts as necessary.


• Modify and repair aircraft sheet metal/structural components and assess the functionality of non-complex electrical systems.


• Operate aircraft-specific tools, such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes, and shears.


• Access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate online parts and discrepancy requests.


• Maintain necessary certifications, licenses, and permits required for assigned work.


• Ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds.


• Ensure a safe working environment through Hazardous Energy and Lock Out/Tag systems applications.


• Collaborate with other team members to meet cost and schedule targets.


• Pass an assessment at the end of the training cycle.


• Comply with SA Site Tool and FOD procedures.

Essential Skills

• 4+ years of experience with non-porous metals such as aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel.


• 4+ years of experience with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings, and standard operating procedures.


• 4+ years of experience using structures hand tools such as drills, pancake adapters, counter sink cages, hole finders, and rivet guns.


• 4+ years of experience in heavy structures: locating, drilling, countersinking, and fastening to aircraft structures.


• Ability to work variable shifts, including scheduled and unscheduled overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in aircraft heavy maintenance, specifically C-17 or Depot Level.


• Experience working with titanium aircraft structures.


• Ability to operate a forklift, mobile crane, and riding type electric powered elevating equipment.
