Buyer/Planner – GMP
Position Summary:

The Boston-area facility is Catalent’s global Center of Excellence for spray dry dispersion and Dry Powder Inhaler (DPI) capsule manufacture and packaging. The site features inhaled powder spray drying, as well as multiple commercial-scale lines for capsule filling and blister packaging. On-site spray dryers include best-in-class GEA Niro SD1, SD4 and SD7, the latter being the largest CGMP unit of its kind for DPI in North America.

Catalent Pharma Solutions is hiring a Buyer/Planner who is responsible for overseeing material purchasing, managing supply chain requirements, and fostering strong supplier relationships. The Buyer/Planner works closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials Management, and Finance, to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials and seamless support of production schedules.

This is a full-time, salaried, onsite role. Core hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00AM – 5:00PM.

The Role
  • Material Requirements Management: Review and analyze daily material needs, ensuring the timely availability of materials to meet production schedules;
  • Production Support: Schedule and prioritize material orders, expediting as necessary to ensure adherence to production timelines;
  • Supplier Coordination & Cost Management: Maintain vendor relationships, negotiate cost savings opportunities, and manage purchase orders and vendor setup in the system;
  • Inventory Forecasting & Optimization: Monitor inventory levels, adjust reorder points, and identify opportunities for inventory optimization;
  • Audit & Finance Collaboration: Work with the finance team on monthly/quarterly audits and ensure accurate invoicing and timely payments;
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and drive process improvements in material planning, purchasing, and supplier performance;
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Support ongoing communication and alignment between internal teams (e.g., Engineering, Manufacturing) and external vendors;
  • All other duties as assigned
The Candidate
  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred;
  • Five (5)+ years of experience in purchasing, inventory control, and warehousing required. Experience within a cGMP manufacturing environment;
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries is preferred;
  • Experience and proficiency in MRP/ERP systems (or equivalent) for inventory management is required;
  • Experience with purchasing and accounting processes;
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with internal teams and suppliers;
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis;
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills;
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment;
  • Knowledge of cGMP regulations and industry standards, with a strong commitment to quality and compliance;
  • Individuals may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift 0-15 pounds;
