Job Summary

The Buyer / Planner is responsible for the timely planning and scheduling of receipt and inventory control of amenities products while managing immediate and long-term priorities to achieve or exceed targeted in-stock and inventory levels. The Buyer / Planner also negotiates vendor costs and lead times, return policies, payment, and rebate procedures, as well as releases orders to vendors, expedites orders, and ensures vendors meet shipping times, quality standards, and quoted costs.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute procurement of finished goods from global manufacturers and suppliers based on forecasts to maintain industry-standard fill rates.
  • Recommend forecast adjustments based on selling pattern changes and customer insights.
  • Maintain purchasing master data including vendor lead times, MOQs, pricing, COIs, and HHAs.
  • Replenish inventory by investing in inventory for warehouse locations based on supply weeks, trends, and history.
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding issues such as expediting, delays, program changes.
  • Review inventory levels across distribution centers to avoid aging inventory; transfer stock where needed.
  • Manage the purchasing process to ensure competitive pricing, lead times, quality, and invoicing.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers, communicate updates on pricing, lead times, and product changes.
  • Resolve issues related to freight damages, returns, and accounts payable with internal teams and suppliers.
  • Expedite purchase orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Update item data in PeopleSoft for accuracy.
Qualifications
Education

Bachelor's degree required.

Experience
  • 4-8 years in purchasing and supply chain management.
  • 6-8 years’ experience with demand planning software; Demand Solutions preferred.
Skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to present information clearly and respond to inquiries.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and multitasking skills.
  • Proficiency in PeopleSoft, MS Office, and CCH Tagetik DRP system is a plus.
Physical Demands and Work Conditions
  • Primarily office environment with regular sitting, standing, walking, and computer use.
  • May lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
  • Limited travel may be required.
