Job description

The New York Mets are seeking a Buyer as part of our Consumer Products team, under the greater Ballpark Experience umbrella. This new position will be primarily responsible for curating a world-class merchandise assortment for all Mets Team Stores across cores of goods and hard goods categories. The Consumer Products team is tasked with delivering an industry-leading retail strategy resulting in continued revenue growth, improved operations, and a best-in-class experience for our fans.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Lead buyer for all core soft goods including, but not limited to, headwear, legacy sports fan wear, Authentic Collection, Youth/Kids, and other high volume product categories.
  2. Lead buyer for all hard goods including, but not limited to, souvenirs and novelties, trading cards, and home goods.
  3. Act as main point of contact on Consumer Products team for any questions/requests involving assigned product categories.
  4. Work closely with retail operations team to ensure clear communication regarding full lifecycle of product.
  5. Collaborate with vendors as needed to enhance overall product launch/activation/marketing, etc.
  6. Develop and execute marketing plans for merchandise and activations in collaboration with vendors.
  7. Work closely with vendors to ensure delivery standards are met, product quality is as expected, invoices are received in a timely and accurate manner, etc.
  8. Research and propose new retail initiatives to elevate our merchandise assortment and enhance the overall fan experience at our Team Stores.
  9. Support retail operations team with product visualization plans for all Citi Field locations in a timely manner.
  10. Support item replenishment and markdown strategies for assigned categories.
  11. Build product storyboards and other presentations to support buy plans.
  12. Co-lead digital asset management in inventory management system.
  13. Assist with all internal merchandise requests as needed.
  14. Assist with general Ballpark Experience department needs.
  15. Require 3+ years of buying experience for multiple outlets, specializing in licensed and/or sports plus.
  16. Ability to work irregular hours, weekends, holidays, etc.
  17. Team-oriented, outgoing, extremely motivated, and able to work independently.
  18. Professional demeanor with strong organizational, planning, and communication skills.
  19. Extremely flexible and open to learning new skills.
  20. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines.
  21. Ability to travel regularly around immediate NYC/LI area as needed.
  22. Ability to travel out of state 4-5 times per year to meet with vendors, MLB, other teams/venues.
  23. Punctual with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint & Excel) as priorities.
  24. Extensive experience with Adobe Photoshop.

Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000
