Summary:
The New York Mets are seeking a Buyer as part of our Consumer Products team, under the greater Ballpark Experience umbrella. This new position will be primarily responsible for curating a world-class merchandise assortment for all Mets Team Stores across core soft goods and hard goods categories. The Consumer Products team is tasked with delivering on an industry-leading retail strategy resulting in continued revenue growth, improved operations, and a best-in-class experience for our fans.
• Lead buyer for all core soft goods including, but not limited to, headwear, legacy sports fanwear, Authentic Collection, Youth/Kids, and other high volume product categories
• Lead buyer for all hard goods including, but not limited to, souvenirs and novelties, trading cards, and home goods
• Act as main point of contact on Consumer Products team for any questions/requests involving assigned product categories
• Work closely with retail operations team to ensure clear communication regarding full life cycle of product
• Collaborate with vendors as needed to enhance overall product launch/activation/marketing/etc.
• Develop and execute marketing plans for merchandise and activations in collaboration with
• Work closely with vendors to ensure delivery standards are being met, product quality is as expected, invoices are received in a timely and accurate manner, etc.
• Research and propose new retail initiatives that will elevate our merchandise assortment and enhance the overall fan experience at our Team Stores
• Support retail operations team with product visualization plans for all Citi Field locations in a timely manner
• Support item replenishment and markdown strategies for assigned categories
• Build product storyboards and other presentations to support buy plans
• Co-lead for digital asset management in inventory management system
• Assist with all internal merchandise requests as needed
• Assist with general Ballpark Experience department need
• 3+ years of buying experience for multiple outlets, specializing in licensed and/or sports a plus
• Able to work irregular hours, weekends, holidays, etc
• Team-oriented, outgoing, extremely motivated, and able to work independently
• Professional demeanor with strong organizational, planning, and communication skills
• Extremely flexible and open to learn new skills
• Able to manage multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines
• Able to travel regularly around immediate NYC/LI area as needed
• Able to travel out of state 4-5 times per year to meet with vendors, MLB, other teams/venues
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Powerpoint & Excel as priorities)
• Extensive experience with Adobe Photoshop
