Who are we hiring?
Responsible for all licensed and self-sourced non-licensed team merchandise via international and domestic sources for MSG Sports. The Assistant Buyer assists the Senior buyer/Director in ownership of the end-to-end process of managing sales and product development for Knicks and Rangers merchandise.
What will you do?
- Analyzes business performance weekly and works with buyer to take appropriate business actions.
- Maintains assortment sheets and open orders for arena and e-commerce.
- Responsible for the creation and maintenance of purchase orders and reorders.
- Manages and processes merchandise invoices and payments, helping to resolve issues/shortages.
- Manages communication with Operations team on PO delivery status. Owns tracking and communication.
- Creates and disseminates product knowledge decks.
- Assists with the merchandise selection process and pre-book orders.
- Create effective working relationships across multiple departments to help facilitate merchandise needs across the organization.
- Takes part in the process of building and upholding relationships with vendors and interacts with the vendor community.
- Partners with Ecommerce partner to optimize the website based on seasonal business priorities. Scans the site daily to ensure that we are consistent in providing the optimal customer experience
- Under the direction of the buyers, oversee in-store presentation and execution of product placement to ensure MSG is maximizing in store experience, traffic and driving conversion.
- Maintain awareness of sports licensed products and distributions where applicable.
- Demonstrates a passion for Sports and event-based retail.
What do you need to succeed?
- 2+ years of experience in retail, buying, or merchandising
- Experience with inventory management
- Experience with retail math and metrics
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Excellent communication skills, ability to mobilize key stakeholders, and engage with all levels in the organization
- Ability to demonstrate success in managing multiple tasks while under tight deadlines
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Special Requirements (physical Demands, Non-traditional Hours, Travel Etc.)
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, have split days off, work weekends and holidays in a 24 X 7 environment.
- Must be willing to travel to other locations as needed
- Light lifting (Up to 20 lbs.)
Pay Range
$57,000—$85,000 USD
