Job summary

Whole Foods Market Asheville is seeking a Butcher Apprentice to learn the craft through hands-on training and formal instruction. You will explore the art of cutting, preparation, and merchandising while upholding our quality standards and food safety.

This program emphasizes animal welfare, shop ethics, and customer service. You will work with team members across departments, develop knife skills, and participate in opening, mid, and closing duties as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of six months tenure at Whole Foods Market or equivalent prior experience in grocery retail.
• Completion of all assigned operational training.
• Must be in good standing and have no active final warnings on file.

Responsibilities

• Performs butcher duties: cutting, plating, and merchandising meat to achieve margin.
• Provides excellent customer service and uses suggestive selling techniques.
• Follows Food Safety, Weights and Measures, sanitation and safe work practices.
• Arrives on time, groomed, and ready to work; attends required trainings and meetings.
• Performs opening, mid, and closing duties; ensures pricing accuracy.
