SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

As a runner, you contribute significantly to our success. The primary function of the runner is to deliver food from the kitchen to the correct guest at the table. You directly impact the level of service we offer, not only by assisting waitstaff but also through your interaction with guests. Additionally, you serve as the key liaison between the front of house and the kitchen, and your clear communication ensures smooth service. RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES:

• Always treat guests with courtesy and respect in all situations.
• Display honesty and integrity.
• Motivate team members to engage in service and seek opportunities to improve.
• Build strong partnerships with internal teams and outside vendors.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

• Complete all opening duties as assigned.
• Properly stock all plates, silverware, and condiments according to restaurant standards.
• Communicate supply shortages to management.
• Deliver food accurately, effectively, and graciously.
• Announce the item being delivered, e.g., “Harold’s Special Pork Chop”.
• Be prepared to answer guest questions.
• Describe menu items and ingredients accurately and enthusiastically.
• Follow all front-of-house and kitchen etiquette procedures.
• Coordinate with the chef to update on table status and course readiness.
• Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests.
• Ensure guests have everything they need before leaving the table.
• Interact courteously and professionally with guests, supervisors, and colleagues.
• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the service areas.
• Assist dishwashers in maintaining order of plates and glassware.
• Complete additional cleaning projects as assigned.
• Perform end-of-night closing side-work as per standards.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to listen attentively.
• Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.
• Ability to stand for at least 8 hours.
• Multitasking skills.
• Remain calm under stress.
• Knowledge of food safety standards.
