Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations with safety, quality, and productivity focus.
  • Develop and execute strategic business plans aligned with goals and growth.
  • Own P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and profitability for the BU.
  • Establish KPIs to drive excellence in operations, quality, and delivery.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Sales, and PMO on commitments.
  • Drive Lean, Six Sigma, and CI initiatives to reduce waste and costs.
  • Coach and develop a high-performing leadership team and culture of accountability.
  • Assess risks and implement mitigation for operational continuity.
  • Plan capacity, allocate resources, and scale operations for growth.
  • Build relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, customer requirements, and standards.
  • Evaluate new business opportunities and strategic initiatives.
  • Present updates on operational, financial, and strategic performance to executives.

Cyient is seeking an experienced and results-driven Business Unit Manager to lead a manufacturing business unit focused on operational excellence, customer satisfaction, financial performance, and strategic growth. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the business unit, including manufacturing operations, engineering, supply chain, quality, and continuous improvement, while ensuring the achievement of operational and financial objectives.


The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with a proven track record of managing manufacturing operations, driving profitability, developing high-performing teams, and delivering exceptional customer outcomes in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities


  • Lead all day-to-day operations of the assigned manufacturing business unit, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production.

  • Develop and execute strategic business plans that align with organizational goals and drive sustainable growth.

  • Own the business unit's financial performance, including full P&L responsibility, budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and profitability.

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive operational excellence, productivity, quality, delivery, and customer satisfaction.

  • Partner closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Sales, and Program Management to ensure successful execution of customer commitments.

  • Champion Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives that improve efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize costs.

  • Build, coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing leadership team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and employee engagement.

  • Identify business risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies to ensure operational continuity.

  • Drive capacity planning, resource allocation, and operational scalability to support business growth.

  • Develop and strengthen relationships with key customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, customer requirements, regulatory standards, and quality management systems.

  • Prepare and present operational, financial, and strategic performance updates to executive leadership.


Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related discipline.

  • 10+ years of progressive manufacturing operations experience.

  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing manufacturing operations, plant operations, or a business unit.

  • Demonstrated experience with full P&L ownership and achieving financial performance objectives.

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning, supply chain operations, quality systems, and engineering collaboration.

  • Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Kaizen, Six Sigma, or Operational Excellence initiatives.

  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate cross-functional teams.

  • Strong analytical, financial, and business acumen.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience utilizing ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar enterprise platforms.

  • Willingness to travel as business needs require.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Master's degree (MBA or Engineering) preferred.

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.

  • Experience within aerospace, defense, industrial manufacturing, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.

  • Multi-site manufacturing leadership experience.

  • Experience leading organizational change and business transformation initiatives.
