Job summary

Synergy Search is partnering with a growing technology company to elevate its accounting function. The Business Unit Controller will report to the Corporate Controller, lead a small accounting team, and collaborate with site leadership on day-to-day financial operations.

This high-visibility role requires immediate ownership of the books, month-end close, long-term contract accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and audit readiness under US GAAP.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of progressive accounting experience inside an operating business.
• Experience with long-term contracts or project-based accounting is a plus.
• Able to make day-to-day decisions independently and prepare general ledger entries.

Responsibilities

• Own the month-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement prep.
• Manage accounting for long-term contracts, including forecasting and revenue recognition under US GAAP.
• Oversee cost accounting, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.
• Manage AP and AR functions and drive process improvements across the finance team.
• Lead and develop a small accounting team.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and audit readiness.
• Act as a trusted financial partner to site and operations leadership.

Synergy Search is partnering with a growing, well-capitalized technology company serving enterprise and public sector customers. The business is expanding quickly and building out its accounting function to keep pace.

This is a newly elevated, high-visibility leadership role that functions as a Business Unit Controller for a fast-scaling part of the business. Reports to the Corporate Controller, leads a small accounting team, and works closely with site leadership on day-to-day financial operations. This is a priority hire. The company is looking for someone who can step in and take ownership of the books quickly.

Requirements

• CPA strongly preferred, CMA considered
• Five or more years of progressive accounting experience inside an operating business, not solely public accounting
• Experience with long-term contract or project-based accounting a plus
• Comfortable making day-to-day decisions independently and personally preparing general ledger entries
