Job summary

ACC Recruiters is seeking a hands-on Controller for a high-growth U.S. organization with a strong parent company. You will lead a six-person accounting team, own month-end and year-end closes, and deliver accurate financial reporting for a $50M+ business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field.
• Approximately 3-5+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience.
• Experience overseeing multiple areas of accounting (GL, close, payables, receivables, payroll, cash).
• Strong understanding of financial statements, general ledger accounting, close and GAAP.
• Experience with cash flow, working capital and operational accounting processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting function and manage a six-person team.
• Own monthly and year-end close processes and timely reporting.
• Review financial results and provide insights on performance and variances.
• Oversee billing, receivables, payables, payroll and cash activities.
• Manage cash flow and provide visibility into short-term needs.

The Controller will report to the VP of Finance and manage the accounting team. This is a hands-on leadership role with the opportunity to take ownership of the accounting function, improve processes and reporting, and work closely with senior leadership.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead the day-to-day accounting function and provide direction and support to a team of six.
• Own the monthly and year-end close process, ensuring financial information is accurate and completed on schedule.
• Review financial results and provide management with insight into performance, trends and significant variances.
• Oversee general accounting activities as well as billing, receivables, payables, payroll and cash-related functions.
• Manage cash flow and help ensure the business maintains appropriate visibility into short-term financial needs.
• Maintain appropriate accounting controls and ensure consistent application of GAAP and internal accounting policies.
• Partner with outside accounting and tax firms and coordinate information needed for annual audit and tax work.
• Provide oversight of inventory accounting and related reconciliation and physical inventory processes.
• Evaluate existing accounting procedures and identify opportunities to streamline, automate or improve processes.
• Help improve the use of the company's financial systems and the quality and accessibility of financial reporting.
• Develop the accounting team through effective delegation, coaching and oversight.
• Work with leadership and other departments on financial matters affecting the broader business.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field.
• Previous experience leading an accounting function, ideally at the Controller, Assistant Controller or senior accounting management level.
• Approximately 3-5+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience.
• Strong understanding of financial statements, general ledger accounting, close and GAAP.
• Experience overseeing multiple areas of accounting rather than working within one specialized function.
• Prior responsibility for managing and developing accounting staff.
• Comfortable reviewing financial results, identifying issues and determining appropriate next steps.
• Experience working with cash flow, working capital and operational accounting processes.
• Strong systems skills with an interest in improving processes and reducing manual work.
• Able to operate with a high degree of independence and take ownership without requiring significant day-to-day direction.
• Comfortable working in a growing environment where priorities may evolve.
