Position Details

Position: Business Teacher

FTE: 1.0

Location: Woodbury Middle School

Compensation: BA/00 starting salary is $52,679/year, MA/00 starting salary is $61,898/year. Salary based on Teacher contract, previous teaching experience, and education.

Anticipated Start Date: Fall 2025

License Requirement: Current Minnesota 5-12 Business license

Position Summary

Develop the student's fullest acquisition of knowledge, skills, concepts, and attitudes.

Primary Job Functions
  1. Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time, providing students opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
  2. Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods. Adapt methods and materials to meet students' needs and interests.
  3. Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  4. Create a positive environment to ensure successful learning for all students.
  5. Meet with parents and guardians to discuss progress and set priorities for social, emotional, and academic growth.
  6. Confer with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve behavioral and academic concerns.
  7. Maintain accurate student records as required by laws, policies, and regulations.
  8. Guide and counsel students with adjustment, academic issues, or special interests.
  9. Prepare objectives and outlines for courses, following curriculum guidelines and collaborating with staff.
  10. Meet with professionals to discuss students' needs and progress.
  11. Administer assessments, interpret results to identify student strengths and needs.
  12. Attend professional development activities to maintain and improve competence.
  13. Maintain confidentiality and appropriate boundaries with students, families, and staff.
  14. Other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications
  • Appropriate Minnesota teaching licensure for subject and level.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills.
  • Prompt, reliable attendance.
  • Proficiency in routine computer functions, including email and Microsoft Word.
  • Positive and responsive communication with students, parents, co-workers, and community.
