Pima County Information Technology Department seeks a self-motivated Business Systems Analyst I to analyze business processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and support a range of county departments with technical services. This in-office Tucson-based role emphasizes collaboration with SMEs, documentation, and delivering practical IT solutions.

The ideal candidate has experience analyzing processes, gathering requirements, and working with diverse customers.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent AND two years of experience in either computer hardware or software support, business analysis or data analysis.
• Minimum one (1) year of experience in information technology supporting and administering various business system applications.
• Minimum one (1) year of experience gathering, documenting requirements while capturing baseline measurements to support analysis and improvement.
• Minimum one (1) year of experience in analysis of current business processes, development and documentation of new business processes, gaining acceptance of the new or modified business process, and implementing revised and new business processes.
• Minimum one (1) year of experience working with multiple customers, both internal and external to the organization, who have a wide range of business requirements related to information technology.
• Minimum one (1) year of experience leading organizational change initiatives and implementing performance improvement strategies to enhance operational efficiency, employee adoption, and business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Engages with Pima County department or elected official SMEs to gain understanding of how the entity operates to deliver on its mission.
• Researches and documents the technical tools (hardware and software) that enable business operations for departments and/or elected officials.
• Identifies and documents areas of operational improvement that can be gained via changes in technology.
• Communicates proposed changes in technology to technical teams and/or third-party vendors for design, development and deployment via requirements definition documents, work items in a work management tool, visual representations, and oral presentations.
• Coordinates requirements definition and business case for change with department and/or elected official SMEs.
• Provides status updates to leadership in oral and written form.
• Executes project management techniques (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) to ensure efficient and effective delivery of technical solutions.
• Effectively negotiates for viable solutions to technical, process and priority conflict resolution.
• Serves as a team member to deliver technical solutions on larger projects and/or for multiple departments.
