Qualifications

  • 5+ years' experience in business analysis, requirements definition and information technology support.
  • Associate’s degree in information technology, computer science, MIS or related field with 3+ years' experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, MIS or related field with 1+ year experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews with business users and stakeholders to identify needs and translate into functional specifications, user stories and process docs.
  • Analyze existing workflows and recommend improvements aligned with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with technical teams, vendors, end-users to ensure requirements are understood and met.
  • Develop test plans and perform functional, usability, and regression testing to validate requirements.
  • Lead UAT sessions, gather user feedback, and ensure readiness for new or updated system functionality.
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance by analyzing issues and coordinating with vendors or internal teams to resolve problems.
  • Configure applications to meet business needs and ensure reliable operation.

The Superior Court of Los Angeles County is the largest unified trial court in the United States. The Court’s 582 judicial officers and its dedicated workforce of over 4,600 full-time employees serving across 36 facilities work purposefully and seamlessly to achieve the mission to provide equal access to justice to all of Los Angeles County. About The Opportunity

We’re seeking a dedicated Business Systems Analyst (BSA) who is committed to understanding business needs and turning them into clear, actionable system requirements. The ideal candidate will work closely with end-users, technical teams, and vendors to analyze processes, document requirements, test system functionality, and support applications across the organization. This role centers on improving business operations through thoughtful analysis, effective communication, and hands‑on system support. With opportunities to contribute to new enhancements and maintain existing applications, this position offers a meaningful path to strengthen both functional and technical expertise while driving impactful projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Requirements Analysis: Conduct interviews with business users and stakeholders to identify business needs and translate them into functional specifications, user stories, and process documentation.
  • Business Process Evaluation: Analyze existing workflows and recommend solutions or improvements that align with organizational goals.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with technical teams, vendors, end-users, and other stakeholders to ensure requirements and expectations are clearly understood and met.
  • Quality Assurance Testing: Develop test plans and perform functional, usability, and regression testing to validate that systems fulfill documented requirements.
  • User Acceptance Facilitation: Lead UAT sessions, gather feedback from users, and ensure readiness for new or updated system functionality.
  • Application Support: Provide troubleshooting assistance by analyzing reported issues, documenting findings, and coordinating with vendors or internal teams to resolve problems.
  • System Configuration: Configure applications to meet business needs and ensure systems operate efficiently and reliably.

THIS IS A TELEWORK ELIGIBLE OPPORTUNITY

This position may be eligible for full or partial telework following an initial training period and contingent upon the needs of the Court.

Selection Requirements
  • OPTION I: 5+ years' experience in business analysis, requirements definition and information technology support.
  • OPTION II: Associate’s degree* in information technology, computer science, management information systems, or related field -AND- 3+ years' experience in business analysis, requirements definition and information technology support.
  • OPTION II: Bachelor's degree* in information technology, computer science, management information systems, or related field -AND- 1+ year experience in business analysis, requirements definition and information technology support.

Note: Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio (e.g., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience). Overtime does not count toward additional credit.

Desirable Qualifications
  • Exposure to all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Experience writing SQL queries.
  • Experience working with agile methodology.
  • Experience using low/no-code and AI tools.
  • Practical knowledge of financial systems and workflows used in accounting or finance operations.
