Job summary

Superior Court of Los Angeles County is seeking a Network Administrator to keep the Court connected and operating smoothly. In this hands-on role, you’ll provide Tier 1–2 network support, manage hardware installations, and partner with staff and vendors on infrastructure projects.

You’ll work with SolarWinds and ThousandEyes to monitor networks and ensure uptime. The role requires hands-on experience with switches, routers, servers, UPS, and access points, plus ability to troubleshoot wireless

Qualifications

  • Three years of network operations experience or an associate’s degree plus one year in network operations.
  • Experience supporting LAN/WAN environments and hardware installation/replacement.
  • Experience with network monitoring or diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

  • Network Support & Maintenance — Deliver Tier 1 and 2 support for network services.

About The Position

Join our team as a Network Administrator and help keep the Court connected and running smoothly. In this hands-on role, you’ll deliver Tier 1–2 support, maintain and upgrade critical network hardware, and partner with staff and vendors to plan and execute infrastructure projects. You’ll troubleshoot wireless, VPN, and connectivity issues, administer key platforms like SolarWinds and ThousandEyes, and keep our hardware inventory organized and up to date. Key Responsibilities
  • Network Support & Maintenance — Deliver Tier 1 and Tier 2 support by managing, troubleshooting, and resolving network service tickets to maintain reliable operations.
  • Hardware Installation & Lifecycle — Install, maintain, and replace switches, routers, servers, UPS systems, and access points while coordinating salvage and disposal of decommissioned equipment.
  • Project Scoping & Site Walks — Partner with court staff and vendors on site walks to assess needs, define requirements, and plan upcoming networking projects.
  • Platform Administration — Administer internal platforms including digital signage systems, SolarWinds, and ThousandEyes to support monitoring and operational visibility.
  • Connectivity & End-User Troubleshooting — Diagnose and resolve issues related to wireless connectivity, VPN access, and other network services for end users.
  • Infrastructure Project Support — Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure upgrades, deployments, and technology initiatives.
  • Inventory Management — Maintain accurate hardware inventory records and coordinate equipment lifecycle activities.
  • After-Hours Maintenance — Perform scheduled after-hours work to minimize operational disruptions and ensure business continuity.

TELEWORK OPPORTUNITIES

This position may be eligible for full or partial telework following an initial training period and contingent upon the needs of the Court.

Selection Requirements

To qualify, you must meet one of the following options at the final filing date of this bulletin:

OPTION I: Three (3) years of network operations experience, including supporting LAN/WAN environments, resolving network connectivity issues, assisting with hardware installation or replacement, and working with network monitoring or diagnostic tools.

OPTION II: Associate’s degree or higher* in computer science, information technology, telecommunications, network engineering, or closely related coursework -AND- one (1) year of network operations experience, including supporting LAN/WAN environments, resolving network connectivity issues, assisting with hardware installation or replacement, and working with network monitoring or diagnostic tools.

Note: Credit for experience is based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a pro rate basis (e.g. working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience). Overtime does not count toward additional credit.

Desirable Qualifications
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE.
  • Hands-on experience installing, configuring, and maintaining switches, routers, servers, UPS systems, and access points, ensuring optimal network performance.
  • Familiarity with SolarWinds, ThousandEyes, digital signage systems, and other monitoring tools to ensure network stability and optimize performance.
  • Adaptability to a variety of court-related projects and operational needs.
  • Proactivity in researching and adopting new technologies to improve support and operations.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in emerging technologies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
