The Business Systems Analyst functions as the bridge between business technology, operational efficiency, and financial systems technology within the Finance Systems & Development Operations unit. Serving as the frontline technical liaison for the division, the role oversees enterprise digital platforms via Cascade CMS to ensure they remain engaging, accessible, and ADA-compliant, while simultaneously managing the central knowledge base and aligning digital communications with institutional goals. In tandem with these administrative duties, the position drives robust financial operations by bridging business units and IT, maintaining day-to-day oversight of core financial platforms like Ellucian Banner, WebFOCUS, and other applications as well as troubleshooting technical issues. Responsibilities further encompass assisting with systems documentation, continuously automating manual workflows to enhance institutional data accuracy and efficiency, and fulfilling internal and external financial systems request.
The Division of Business and Finance, led by the Vice Chancellor for Business and Finance / Chief Financial Officer, stewards the university's financial resources and provides the budget, accounting, treasury, procurement, facilities, human resources, public safety, and related services that sustain institutional operations. Within Business and Finance, this shared model provides centralized budget and financial management to the university's schools and divisions through finance professionals who are embedded in the units they serve and accountable to the Vice Chancellor. This model delivers consistent financial practices, stronger internal controls, reliable continuity of service, and decision-useful analysis to Unit and Division leadership. Operating under the auspices of the Division of Business and Finance, the Finance Systems and Development Operations unit serves as the financial systems backbone, architectural, and autonomous systems administrator for the division's financial ecosystem. Structured across four strategic operational pillars-Core Systems Administration, Business Intelligence/Data Architecture, Process Automation/Digital Governance, and Security Compliance/Training-the unit provides dedicated support for platforms such as Ellucian Banner Finance, WebFOCUS, Power BI, and related enterprise financial systems. The unit drives institutional efficiency by engineering automated workflows, deploying KPI dashboards and business intelligence reporting, overseeing UNC System DataMart, administering role-based security access, maintaining the division's web presence, and enhancing standard operating procedures.
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
