Reporting to the VC for Business and Finance, the Unit Business Officer owns budget development, monitoring, forecasting, financial reporting, analysis, and decision support for the assigned units or division; applies common standards, methods, and internal controls; and advises unit/division leadership on the financial implications of operational decisions. Depending on size and complexity, a Unit Business Officer serves a single larger unit/division or is shared across several smaller units. Authority centers on the budget and financial management of the assigned units; university-level central finance functions remain with the respective central offices, with whom the Unit Business Officer coordinates closely.

The Division of Business and Finance, led by the Vice Chancellor for Business and Finance / Chief Financial Officer, stewards the university’s financial resources and provides the budget, accounting, treasury, procurement, facilities, human resources, public safety, and related services that sustain institutional operations. Within Business and Finance, this shared model provides centralized budget and financial management to the university’s schools and divisions through finance professionals who are embedded in the units they serve and accountable to the Vice Chancellor. This model will deliver consistent financial practices, stronger internal controls, reliable continuity of service, and decision-useful analysis to Unit/Division leadership.
Experience providing financial analysis and reporting in support of management decision-making.
CPA , CMA , CGFM , or comparable credential is preferred but not required.
