Job Description

CoAspire is hiring two full-time Business Systems Analysts (Systems Integrator-2) to support the Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security, primarily off-site in Washington, DC, as a CoAspire employee. Successful applicants must be US citizens and able to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance. This full-time position offers benefits and a starting annual salary of $75,000 to $85,000, depending on experience.

This role is ideal for a bright BA/BS graduate with relevant work experience, strong analytical and communication skills. The candidate should demonstrate high academic performance and leadership abilities, with the capacity to analyze information efficiently, particularly regarding global supply chains for metallurgical products and strategic goods.

Job Responsibilities

This position currently supports the Department of Commerce's BIS remotely from Washington, DC.

We seek a highly analytical, detail-oriented Business Analyst (SI-2) to assist BIS in safeguarding U.S. national and economic security. The focus is on analyzing global supply chains for strategic goods, providing insights to inform export controls, industrial resilience, and trade compliance. The ideal candidate combines project management, intelligence analysis, data analytics, and technical writing skills, with a solid understanding of international trade and security issues.

The successful candidate must be an excellent communicator, capable of capturing requirements, ensuring quality, and delivering products on schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive research into international supply chains, mapping origins, flows, and risks of critical imports into the U.S.
  • Analyze tariffs, exclusions, and trade data to identify vulnerabilities and opportunities related to U.S. economic security.
  • Perform QA/QC on internal and external processes related to tariff and trade datasets to ensure data accuracy.
  • Create detailed reports, dashboards, and visualizations for senior briefings and strategic decisions.
  • Collaborate with BIS teams to identify and assess critical sectors and national security concerns.
  • Translate technical data into executive summaries, white papers, and interagency recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities for system enhancements, including business rules and process improvements.
  • Stay informed on global trade developments, sanctions, and export regulations.
  • Participate in projects related to industrial resilience, sanctions enforcement, and emerging technologies.
Qualifications

Basic:

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs, Economics, Data Science, Business Analytics, or related; Master’s preferred. Top schools and US Veterans are a plus.
  • At least 5 years of experience in data analysis, international trade, intelligence, or systems integration.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, Tableau) and handling large datasets.
  • Experience producing detailed trade and tariff reports with high technical and policy relevance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data for leadership.
  • Knowledge of U.S. trade policy, export controls, tariffs, and sanctions.
  • Familiarity with federal systems and workflows, especially in policy or security contexts.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance.

Preferred:

  • Experience with the Department of Commerce, BIS, or similar federal agencies.
  • Exposure to QA/QC in data systems or intelligence environments.
  • Experience in supply chain risk management or critical materials analysis.
