The Business Systems Analyst serves as the primary liaison between Information Technology Services and institutional stakeholders, translating business needs into technology solutions that improve operational efficiency, service delivery, and the student experience.
This position is responsible for analyzing business processes, gathering and documenting requirements, configuring enterprise applications, supporting system implementations, and identifying opportunities for automation and continuous improvement. The Business Systems Analyst partners closely with functional departments, technical teams, project managers, business relationship managers, and vendors to ensure enterprise technology solutions align with institutional goals and business requirements.
The Business Systems Analyst supports enterprise applications across administrative, academic, and student services functions while promoting standardized processes, data quality, governance, and digital transformation initiatives.

- Partner with stakeholders to identify business needs and recommend technology solutions that improve operational effectiveness.
- Gather, analyze, document, and validate functional and technical business requirements.
- Analyze current business processes and recommend improvements through automation, workflow optimization, and system enhancements.
- Configure enterprise applications based on approved business requirements and best practices.
- Support implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing administration of enterprise applications.
- Create functional specifications and user stories for development and integration teams.
- Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities and validate system functionality.
- Develop process documentation, workflow diagrams, business requirements, and standard operating procedures.
- Support enterprise application upgrades, releases, patches, and change management activities.
- Troubleshoot application issues and coordinate resolution with vendors and technical support teams.
- Collaborate with Data Services to support reporting, analytics, and data quality initiatives.
- Participate in enterprise technology projects using Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid project methodologies.
- Identify opportunities to improve customer experience through digital services and automation.
- Support integration initiatives involving APIs, middleware, and enterprise systems.
- Provide support team training, documentation, and knowledge transfer activities.
- Maintain application documentation, system configurations, and business process inventories.
- Stay current with higher education technology trends and recommend improvements.

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Science, Information Technology, Business Analytics, Computer Engineering, or related field. An associate degree in related field with additional (3) years of experience in addition to required experience.
- Three (3) years of experience supporting enterprise business applications, business analysis, systems analysis, or business process improvement.
- Experience gathering and documenting business requirements.
- Experience supporting enterprise software implementations or upgrades.
- Experience working directly with business stakeholders.
- ITIL v4 or v5 certification will be required within (9) months of start date.
Preferred Requirements:
- Master’s degree in information systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related fields.
- Higher education experience or working in a complex large organization.
- Experience with workflow automation platforms.
- Experience with Microsoft Power Platform or similar low-code development platforms.
- Experience with SQL, reporting tools, or business intelligence platforms.
- Experience with Agile Methodologies and Scrum.
- Experience supporting cloud-based SaaS applications.
- Knowledge of higher education ERP systems such as Workday, Ellucian Banner, PeopleSoft, or Colleague.

Working Conditions:
- Typical office environment. Travel between campuses is required. Occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary depending on device deployment and refresh schedules.
