Job summary

Savage is a global provider of supply chain infrastructure and logistics solutions with more than 200 locations across the United States, Canada, Mexico and Saudi Arabia. Based in Chicago, IL, this role focuses on financial administration and office support.

The position offers in-office work, competitive hourly compensation of $26.00 to $30.00, and benefits including medical, dental, and PTO. Military veterans encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in business, accounting, finance, logistics or related field.
  • Intermediate Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis.
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles including AP, AR, and month-end processes.
  • Experience supporting industrial, rail, or logistics operations.

Responsibilities

  • Process customer orders and manage inventory transactions.
  • Coordinate railcar inbound and outbound activities.
  • Maintain shipment documentation and bills of lading.
  • Communicate order status changes with customers and operations teams.
  • Process invoices and accounts payable transactions.
  • Monitor revenue and expense activity.
  • Assist with data validation and financial reporting processes.
  • Support month-end and account reconciliation activities.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact between field operations and back-office teams.
  • Support administrative, HR, and business process activities.
  • Maintain compliance with internal controls and record retention requirements.
  • Contribute to Business Process projects and process improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Basics

Location: Chicago, IL

Compensation: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour

Days/Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm; Overtime as needed (100% In Office)

Travel: May be required for training purposes

What You’ll Be Doing
Financial Administration
  • Process customer orders and manage inventory transactions

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Logistics or related field
  • Intermediate Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis preferred
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end processes
  • Experience supporting industrial, rail, or logistics operations
Some Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
  • Sitting for extended periods of time (up to 6-10 hours per day), while working at computer or desk
  • Frequently uses hands and fingers for keyboarding, writing, and operating office tools
  • Reads printed materials and computer screens, adjusts focus, and maintains attention to detail
  • Hears and speaks frequently, to communicate effectively in-person, by telephone, or via virtual platforms
  • May be required to wear PPE, including but not limited to respirators, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed footwear, fire resistant and/or high visibility clothing, and hearing protection
