Job summary

Savage is seeking team members to support surface operations in the Carbon/Emery area with rotating day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts. You will operate heavy equipment, perform inspections, basic maintenance, and help maintain site safety and cleanliness.

This role requires reliability, teamwork, English communication, willingness to work outdoors, and adherence to PPE and safety procedures. Savage offers benefits including PTO, holidays, profit sharing, and a culture of safety.

What you'll be doing:

• Flexibility around Savage surface operations in the Carbon/Emery area with rotating day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
• Operate heavy equipment proficiently, including completing pre-shift inspections and basic maintenance such as washing, greasing, and troubleshooting.
• Support yard flow by minimizing truck delays, maintaining pile identification accuracy, and staggering breaks to ensure continuous coverage.
• Perform non-equipment tasks as needed, including hand labor, repairs, equipment upkeep, and general site cleanup such as shoveling spills and completing scheduled/unscheduled duties.
• Maintain daily worksite cleanliness and meet MSHA standards across all yards.
• Follow supervisors' directions, complete assigned tasks, maintain punctuality, and work the designated schedule.
• Demonstrate teamwork, reliable communication, customer service, and professional interaction with customers and employees.
• Participate in SHAPS hazard identification/observations and assist with shift coverage related to volume changes or vacation needs.
• Show commitment to safe work practices and continual skill development that adds operational value.

What you'll need:

• Willingness to help with all worksite duties that require attention, as directed by the site operations manager.
• Demonstrates worksite dependability by being punctual and present for scheduled work shifts
• Determined to always wear the appropriate and required PPE
• Conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times
• Demonstrates excellent workplace safety and is dedicated to helping others do the same
• Willingness and ability to follow all rules and procedures asoutlined by Savage
• Willingness and ability to work on holidays and weekends when needed
• Able to follow written and/or verbal instructions with minimal supervision
• Able to communicate effectively in English, which includes basic skills in reading, writing, and comprehension:

Physical Requirements:

• Must be willing to work outdoors in varying conditions, subject to all elements
• Ability to lift 50-70 lbs
• Climb on and off railcars, heavy equipment, and tie processing equipment safely
• Work on uneven ballast surfaces for long periods of time while performing duties that include walking, standing, and lifting
• Able to use basic hand tools
