Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
• 2+ years in community engagement, economic development, government relations, business development, or a related field.
• Experience working with local government is preferred.
• Exceptional communication, relationship‑building, and project management skills.
• Ability to speak confidently before business leaders and the public.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all City business ribbon cuttings from planning through execution.
• Organize Shop Small, Shop Local campaigns and other business engagement initiatives.
• Grow and support the Carmel Small Business Network through strategic outreach.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the Mayor's Office and organizations including the Indy Chamber, OneZone Chamber, Indiana Chamber, and MIBOR.
• Build relationships with local businesses to identify opportunities and connect them with City resources.
• Organize business roundtables, stakeholder meetings, and site visits.
• Represent the Mayor's Office at business events, public meetings, and community functions.
• Track engagement efforts, manage follow-up communications, and prepare reports that measure program impact.

What You'll Do

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Communications, Political Science, Economic Development, or a related field.
• Two (2) or more years of experience in community engagement, economic development, government relations, business development, or a related field.
• Experience working with or in local government is preferred.
• Exceptional communication, relationship‑building, and project management skills.
• Confidence speaking before business leaders, community partners, and public audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering outstanding customer service and representing the City with professionalism.
