Universal Health Services' Lighthouse Behavioral Health Hospital seeks a Business Office Representative to manage itemized bills, verify patient insurance, and counsel patients on financial obligations. Collaborates with Admitting, Medical Records, Utilization Review, and clinical staff to improve processes.

The role requires proactive collections experience, Excel skills, and knowledge of insurance benefits and accounts receivable in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

Business Office Rep Opportunity!

Lighthouse Behavioral Health Hospital is a psychiatric hospital that began offering substance abuse and mental health services in 2002. Primarily established to house adolescents, Lighthouse has transitioned to offering a full spectrum of acute inpatient services to adults and seniors as well. Since 2010, Lighthouse has expanded its mental health and substance abuse services. In 2013, Lighthouse opened a 28-day inpatient chemical dependency rehabilitation unit - the first of its kind in the Grand Strand area. In 2015, Lighthouse opened an acute adolescent unit to meet the needs of teens and their families in the Grand Strand. In 2022, Lighthouse opened an Adult Substance Use Disorder Intensive Outpatient Program. At Lighthouse, we strive to perform at a high level for our patients and their families.

The Business Office Rep Job Summary:

Responsible for compiling itemized hospital bills, verifying patient insurance coverage and computing patient insurance benefits. Financial counsels all patients with financial obligations. Works closely with the Admitting Office, Medical Records, Utilization Review and physicians' office staff. Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Verifies hospital insurance information.
• Compiles hospital bills, completes appropriate forms, submits claims to proper agencies/insurance companies.
• Contacts patients/insurance companies to collect unpaid insurance claims.
• Verifies Insurance / Demographic information in computer system
• Stays informed about changes in insurance plans and contracts.
• Follow up on all accounts within 30 days until paid.
• Manages delinquent accounts
• Moves Self Pay accounts to collections when appropriate by policy
• Keeps upfront log up to date with daily activity/discharges
• Answers the telephone in a polite manner. Communicates information to the appropriate personnel.
• Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function well in stressful situation.
