This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the business office and human resources functions, ensuring the efficient management of financial processes, employee relations, and compliance with healthcare regulations.

The Business Office Manager / HR Director plays a critical leadership role in the facility by managing accounting functions, resident billing, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and human resources operations. This position ensures compliance with healthcare regulations while supporting a positive and productive workplace culture.
Assist in implementing and overseeing daily accounting and financial operations
Maintain policies and procedures governing accounting functions
Manage accounts receivable and resident billing
Prepare and mail resident billing statements
Monitor and report delinquent accounts
Communicate with vendors and suppliers regarding invoice discrepancies
Assist with financial reports, trial balances, and reconciliation of bank statements
Maintain resident trust fund accounting and provide quarterly statements
Ensure admission contracts and financial documentation are properly completed and filed
Assist with improvements or changes to the facility accounting systems
Assist in directing and managing the facility’s HR operations
Recruit, screen, and coordinate interviews for prospective employees
Conduct background checks and ensure compliance with hiring policies
Maintain accurate employee personnel files and HR documentation
Coordinate new employee orientation and onboarding
Schedule and maintain mandatory staff training (HIPAA, OSHA, Compliance, etc.)
Support employee relations, counseling, and disciplinary processes
Conduct exit interviews and maintain records
Ensure confidentiality of all employee information
Review and process payroll and submit Payroll-Based Journal (PBJ) filings
Promote a positive employee relations program within the facility
Minimum 3 years of experience in a billing or supervisory role in a healthcare business office
Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and long-term care resident billing
Minimum 2 years of Human Resources experience
Knowledge of laws and regulations related to personnel administration in nursing facilities
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration preferred but not required
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Ability to move throughout the facility during the workday
Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds as needed
Ability to manage the mental and emotional demands of a leadership role
Ability to assist in emergency evacuation procedures if necessary
