Job Title: Business Office Manager
Location: East Setauket, NY
Pay Range: $70,000 - $85,000 per year
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Business Office Manager to oversee and lead all administrative and revenue cycle functions of a surgical center. This role is responsible for managing the business office team, optimizing front-to-back revenue processes, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. The ideal candidate will bring operational expertise, leadership, and integrity to foster a high-performing administrative team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of the business office including hiring, training, evaluation, and retention of office personnel.
- Oversee surgery scheduling, insurance verification, coding, billing, A/R follow-up, patient registration, and cash management.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end financial closure and reporting.
- Foster effective communication with the Administrator and clinical staff to align on goals and performance metrics.
- Maintain compliance with federal/state laws, insurance requirements, and internal policies.
- Support a healthy and collaborative work environment through positive leadership and responsiveness to team concerns.
- Develop and manage office staff performance metrics and training plans.
- Partner with the materials manager to ensure accuracy in the accounts payable process.
- Collaborate with Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) and other centers to resolve systemic issues.
- Demonstrate fiscal responsibility and manage department budgets effectively.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelors degree (B.A.) in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience managing a medical office or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient in Medicare Part B billing and healthcare reimbursement standards.
- Strong understanding of healthcare compliance, documentation standards, and HR management.
- Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving capabilities.
- High ethical standards and professional integrity.
Preferred:
- Masters degree in Business or Healthcare Administration.
- Previous experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) setting.
