Job summary

The City of Marietta is seeking a qualified professional to audit, inspect, administer and enforce its business license ordinances. This aggregate position will investigate delinquent fees and assist customers with license applications and fee calculations.

Essential duties include audits, licensing enforcement, and maintaining Cognos reports, with travel to various business locations as needed. Strong accounting and communication skills required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in accounting, finance or business admin preferred; 2+ years in city licenses and regulations.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite and COGNOS.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to develop positive public relations with businesses.
• Ability to enforce city license rules and explain city code.

Responsibilities

• Audit and verify business licenses and collect delinquent fees.
• Coordinate audits and perform tax compliance tasks for licensed businesses.
• Explain license requirements and assist with applications and fee calculations.
• Prepare audit finding letters and track payments to ensure compliance.
• Maintain Cognos reports and violation logs; travel for inspections as needed.
• Respond to inquiries from the public regarding city license requirements and codes.
