Job summary

The City of Marietta, GA is seeking a qualified auditor to audit, inspect, administer and enforce the city’s business license ordinances; investigate and collect delinquent business license fees and personal property taxes from those operating within the city limits; and assist customers with business license applications and fee calculations.

The role involves audits, notices, and reporting using COGNOS; maintaining licenses; and providing guidance to business owners on code requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration preferred; may substitute with an associate’s degree and experience.
• 2+ years experience with city business licenses, codes, rules and regulations.
• Proficiency with MS Office and COGNOS reporting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to interact with business community.

Responsibilities

• Audit and inspect businesses for tax compliance and licensing; coordinate audits with management.
• Issue license-related notices, collect delinquent fees and pursue collections.
• Explain license requirements and assist with applications and fee calculations.
• Prepare audit findings and reports; maintain cognos-based business license reports.
• Travel to various business locations and maintain effective working relationships with city staff and the public.
