Our award-winning services range from temporary and temp-to-hire to direct-hire recruitment. At AtWork Conroe, we build lasting partnerships with local employers and help candidates find rewarding careers. We are looking for a motivated, relationship-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys combining new business development with hands-on staffing work.
Position Overview
The Business Development & Staffing Partner expands AtWork Conroe's client base and manages the staffing process for the accounts they win. The primary focus is temp-to-hire, with the opportunity to sell and place direct-hire positions as well. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being both a hunter who opens doors and a trusted partner who makes the placement succeed.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Client Relationships
- Generate and pursue new leads in Conroe and the surrounding North Houston market through cold calling, networking events, referrals, and in-person site visits.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective clients.
- Meet with decision-makers, HR professionals, and hiring managers to understand their workforce challenges, hiring goals, and staffing needs.
- Present customized solutions across temp-to-hire and direct-hire, with temp-to-hire as the primary offering.
- Manage the full sales cycle: outreach, needs assessment, proposal, negotiation of terms and service agreements, closing, and onboarding of new accounts.
- Stay in regular contact with existing clients to uncover additional staffing needs and grow repeat business.
- Represent AtWork professionally at networking events and local business functions.
Full-Cycle Staffing
- Manage each order from job order intake through placement and conversion, including defining job requirements, qualifications, and pay rates with the client.
- Source, screen, interview, and evaluate candidates for fit with client requirements and workplace culture.
- Coordinate interviews, gather feedback, and keep candidates and clients informed throughout selection.
- Extend offers and coordinate onboarding documentation so candidates are prepared for a successful start.
- Check in regularly with placed employees and clients on performance, attendance, and satisfaction, and address concerns early to support retention.
- Track assignment milestones and manage the conversion of temporary employees to permanent positions.
- Support direct-hire searches by working with the recruiting team to present qualified candidates.
Operations & Account Management
- Work closely with internal recruiting and operations staff to fill client orders on time.
- Support payroll and timekeeping coordination by resolving discrepancies with the appropriate internal teams.
- Follow company procedures, employment documentation requirements, and workplace policies.
- Keep accurate candidate, client, and placement records in the applicant tracking system and CRM.
- Report regularly to management on prospecting activity, pipeline growth, placements, and account performance.
- Work with senior management to set branch staffing goals and action plans.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in staffing, recruiting, B2B sales, business development, or account management, with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
- A "hunter" mentality and a drive to generate new business, including comfort with B2B cold calling and face-to-face prospecting.
- Solid understanding of the hiring process and talent acquisition practices.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Well organized, able to manage multiple priorities, and comfortable working independently.
- Able to think on your feet and adapt to changing client needs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM or applicant tracking systems.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for client meetings and worksite visits.
- Bachelor's degree is a plus but not required.
The Ideal Candidate
