You will communicate and work collaboratively with the Operations team. You will leverage your strong communication and relationship building skills to increase sales for our Houston territory.

About the Role

Stuart Dean is seeking a driven, self-directed Business Development Representative to grow our Houston market. This field-focused sales role is responsible for developing new business and expanding existing client relationships through prospecting, building visits, networking, and consistent follow-through.

For more than 90 years, Stuart Dean has specialized in the restoration, preservation, and maintenance of architectural surfaces. We help building owners and managers protect and extend the life of valuable architectural assets, including metal, stone, and wood, often providing an alternative to costly replacement.

The Opportunity

Houston represents a significant growth opportunity for Stuart Dean. This role offers the right person the chance to build a market and their own book of business while being supported by experienced operational and technical resources. We are looking for someone motivated by developing relationships, uncovering opportunities, and producing measurable results.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop new business through proactive prospecting, building visits, referrals, networking, industry organizations, and market research.
  • Conduct outreach efforts to engage potential clients, present the value proposition, and schedule meetings with clients.
  • Build relationships with property managers, facility managers, building owners, general contractors, architects, and other key decision-makers and act as a trusted advisor to provide solutions that meet their requirements.
  • Conduct building walkthroughs, identify restoration and maintenance opportunities, and help clients understand solutions that preserve and extend the life of their architectural assets.
  • Develop clear scopes of work and collaborate with Operations and technical teams to prepare accurate proposals.
  • Manage opportunities from initial contact through proposal, follow-up, negotiation, and close.
  • Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline while growing existing accounts through additional services, buildings, and client relationships.
  • Identify opportunities for account growth and proactively present upselling or cross-selling to clients.
  • Ensure core services of Stuart Dean are completed in accordance with client requirements and Stuart Dean SOP’s, along with introduction/growth of new products and services.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records of prospecting activity, meetings, opportunities, proposals, and next steps.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the status of client accounts. Prepare regular reports on account status, including revenue growth, client satisfaction, and any issues or risks.
  • Meet with clients to review services and build relationships for continued growth within the market and added services.
  • Represent Stuart Dean in the Houston market and work closely with the Territory Manager and Operations team to ensure proposed solutions can be successfully and profitably delivered.
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience is valuable, but the right attitude, energy, and drive matter just as much. We are open to both seasoned professionals and high-potential candidates who are ready to learn and build.
  • B2B sales or business development experience is preferred, but not required for candidates who demonstrate strong initiative, relationship-building ability, and a desire to succeed.
  • A self-starter who is energetic, curious, persistent, and comfortable creating opportunities rather than waiting for leads.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence to initiate conversations, ask good questions, and develop relationships with decision-makers.
  • Organized, disciplined, and accountable, with strong follow-through and the ability to manage multiple opportunities.
  • Coachable and eager to learn the technical aspects of Stuart Dean’s services and the commercial building industry.
  • Experience or relationships in commercial real estate, construction, facility services, architectural products or services, building maintenance, or restoration is a plus, but not required.
  • Comfortable working independently in the market while collaborating closely with Operations and leadership.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and Microsoft Office is preferred. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience is preferred, not required.
Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and work experience equivalent to a four-year degree required.
  • 2+ years sales experience within business services, real estate, construction management, or related industries.
  • Proven work experience in a client-facing role with prior client relationship management experience preferred.
  • Background in related industries including construction, architectural restoration, building finishes, metal refinishing, natural stone, ornamental metals, commercial real estate, facility services, elevators, landscaping, security, flooring, or intangible product or service sales a plus.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication, strong negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Highly disciplined, independent, and entrepreneurial.
  • Strong work ethic and experience to effectively manage multiple relationships and priorities.
  • Ability to take initiative to service client accounts, sell additional services, and manage own time effectively to produce optimum results.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
