Business Development Manager — Commercial Landscape Maintenance
Clients First Landscape Solutions | Dallas–Fort Worth
Reports to: Director of Business Development
About the Opportunity:
Clients First Landscape Solutions is a locally owned, rapidly growing landscape company. We are expanding our commercial maintenance division and looking for a driven Business Development Manager to actively pursue new clients and win profitable, recurring maintenance contracts throughout DFW (demographic territory).
This is a prospecting-heavy, quota-driven sales position. Success requires consistently creating your own opportunities through outbound outreach, relationship development, referrals, networking, and property visits. You must be comfortable initiating conversations, working through rejection, and following opportunities through to a decision.
We are growing quickly and need someone who can think critically, work independently, and take ownership of results. You will have support from estimating, operations, and leadership, along with clear sales quotas and measurable performance expectations.
Your Primary Responsibility:
Generate profitable new commercial landscape maintenance revenue by identifying, qualifying, developing, and closing opportunities with HOAs, property managers, facility managers, asset managers, and commercial property owners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Make prospecting a consistent daily priority through calls, emails, LinkedIn outreach, property visits, referrals, and networking.
- Build and execute a territory plan that produces enough qualified opportunities to achieve your sales quota.
- Identify decision-makers, understand client needs, and determine whether opportunities fit CFLS’s capabilities and profitability requirements.
- Think critically about where to spend your time, which opportunities to pursue, and what it will take to win.
- Build relationships that generate bid invitations, referrals, and opportunities across multiple properties.
- Own each opportunity from initial contact through discovery, proposal development, follow-up, negotiation, and contract execution.
- Coordinate with estimating and operations to develop complete, accurate proposals that address client requirements.
- Protect pricing integrity and meet company gross margin expectations.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, clear next actions, and realistic 30-, 60-, and 90-day forecasts.
- Organize your calendar around prospecting, client meetings, property walks, proposal deadlines, and follow-ups.
- Identify stalled opportunities, competitive threats, and gaps in your pipeline early. Bring recommendations and ask for support when needed.
- Coordinate a complete handoff of signed contracts to account management and operations.
Quota and Performance Expectations:
This role is accountable for both sales results and the activity required to produce them. Performance will be evaluated against:
- Assigned annual and monthly new maintenance sales quotas.
- Established prospecting activity targets.
- Weekly goals for qualified meetings and new opportunities.
- Pipeline coverage sufficient to achieve revenue goals, using the company’s standard of 10 times the annual sales goal.
- Proposal conversion and gross margin targets.
- CRM accuracy, timely follow-ups, and forecast reliability.
You are expected to know where your next sale is coming from, recognize when you are behind pace, and take action to close the gap. Prospecting must remain consistent while you manage active bids and negotiations.
Who We Are Looking For:
- A proactive salesperson with a demonstrated ability to generate and close new business.
- Someone comfortable working against quotas and being held accountable for measurable results.
- A critical thinker who asks good questions, evaluates opportunities, anticipates obstacles, and recommends solutions.
- A self-directed professional who manages their time effectively and follows through without repeated reminders.
- A resilient communicator who can handle rejection, earn trust, and maintain consistent outreach.
- Someone who communicates honestly about progress, challenges, mistakes, and support needs.
- A team member who adapts as the company grows and contributes ideas that improve how we sell.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated success in consultative sales and new business development.
- Working knowledge of commercial landscape maintenance, estimating, production, and customer service.
- Strong written and verbal communication, proposal presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent organization and attention to detail.
- Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred. Relevant professional experience may be considered in place of a degree.

- Base salary based on experience.
- Commission and bonus opportunities based on growth and performance.
