About Warm Floors™
Founded in 1977, Warm Floors™ is an established Bay Area contractor specializing in hydronic radiant heating and cooling systems. Our expertise includes radiant floor heating, air-to-water heat pumps, boilers, fan coils, and integrated mechanical systems for custom homes and renovation projects.
With nearly 50 years of experience, we work closely with homeowners, architects, builders, and engineering professionals to design and install high-performance heating and cooling solutions.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and relationship-driven Business Development Manager to expand our presence throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
The ideal candidate has a background in HVAC, mechanical contracting, construction, or building systems sales, with established relationships among architects, energy consultants, mechanical engineers, and general contractors.
This is a relationship-focused sales position. Rather than relying primarily on incoming leads, the successful candidate will proactively develop professional partnerships, establish Warm Floors™ as a trusted resource during the early stages of building design, and generate a consistent pipeline of qualified projects.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Relationship Building
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with architects, energy consultants, mechanical engineers, general contractors, and developers.
- Identify firms designing custom homes, major renovations, and energy-efficient buildings that could benefit from our services.
- Schedule and conduct introductory meetings, office visits, and technical presentations.
- Build a network of referral partners who consistently recommend Warm Floors™ for upcoming projects.
- Attend industry conferences, trade shows, networking events, and professional association meetings.
- Establish relationships with firms involved in Title 24 energy compliance, building performance, and high-efficiency mechanical system design.
Sales & Project Development
- Identify new construction and renovation opportunities during the architectural and design phases.
- Introduce our radiant heating, radiant cooling, and hydronic HVAC capabilities to prospective partners and clients.
- Coordinate with our in-house design team to develop appropriate mechanical solutions and project proposals.
- Manage opportunities from initial introduction through proposal, negotiation, and contract execution.
- Maintain regular communication with prospective clients, architects, and contractors throughout the sales cycle.
- Track outreach activities, relationships, opportunities, and projected revenue using CRM tools.
Market Development
- Identify emerging opportunities involving energy-efficient construction, electrification, and air-to-water heat pump technologies.
- Develop strategic partnerships with complementary businesses and industry professionals.
- Represent Warm Floors™ as a knowledgeable, reliable mechanical contracting partner.
- Provide management with regular updates on pipeline development, relationship-building activities, and sales performance.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in HVAC sales, construction business development, mechanical systems, or a related industry.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain professional relationships that generate business.
- Strong communication, networking, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to understand technical building systems and communicate their value to industry professionals.
- Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable conducting in-person outreach.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Strongly Preferred
- Existing relationships with Bay Area architects, energy consultants, mechanical engineering firms, or general contractors.
- Experience selling HVAC systems, hydronic heating, heat pumps, or energy-efficient building technologies.
- Familiarity with California Title 24 energy requirements and high-performance building practices.
- Experience working with custom residential construction and design-build projects.
- Proven history of generating new business through professional referral networks.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this position will be measured by the development of a strong professional referral network, consistent generation of qualified project opportunities, growth in proposal and contract volume, and the establishment of Warm Floors™ as a preferred hydronic heating and cooling contractor among Bay Area design professionals.
