Business Development Manager - Drayage Industry
Location: Long Beach, CA (On-Site)
Pay: $32-$35/hour (Contract-to-Hire) + Bonus Potential
Vaco LA is partnering with a leading logistics and Drayage company to hire a Business Development Manager. This on-site, contract-to-hire role is based in Long Beach, CA, offering competitive hourly pay and bonus potential. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the Drayage industry-whether through sales or operational roles-and a desire to grow within business development.
Candidates must have Drayage industry experience, either in sales or in an operations-facing role, with a strong interest in transitioning into sales.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the Drayage and intermodal logistics sector
  • Leverage existing industry contacts and knowledge to initiate conversations and generate leads
  • Conduct outbound outreach (phone, email, online platforms) to build a pipeline of prospective clients
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with both prospective and current customers
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support pricing, proposals, and service delivery
  • Manage all sales activities and updates using CRM tools (Salesforce preferred)
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and customer needs to inform outreach and strategy

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in the Drayage industry is required, even if not in a sales role (e.g., dispatch, operations, account management)
  • Previous sales or business development experience is preferred, but open to candidates looking to transition into sales
  • Strong understanding of Drayage operations, customer needs, and market dynamics
  • Established relationships or network within the Drayage/logistics space is a plus
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills
