Job summary

U.S. Bridge, a leading designer, engineer and manufacturer of steel bridge solutions, invites an experienced Business Development Manager to drive growth in infrastructure markets.

The role requires technical credibility with engineers and project teams, and the ability to turn opportunities into awarded projects. This hybrid position based in Columbus, Ohio, involves building relationships with contractors, DOTs and engineering firms, and managing opportunities from lead to award.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical sales, engineering, bridge construction or heavy civil infrastructure.
  • Established relationships within bridge/transportation/infrastructure markets preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, plans and specifications.
  • Proven ability to develop new business and convert opportunities into revenue.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 20%.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and expand relationships with contractors, engineering firms, DOTs and municipalities.
  • Leverage existing relationships to pursue new bridge and infrastructure opportunities.
  • Engage customers and engineers early in planning and design to position for future projects.
  • Work with customers to understand project requirements and develop technically sound, commercially competitive solutions.
  • Manage opportunities from identification through estimating, proposal development, negotiation and award.
  • Review plans and bid documents and coordinate with engineering, estimating, manufacturing and operations.
  • Build and manage a sales pipeline and provide accurate opportunity forecasting.
  • Represent U.S. Bridge at customer meetings, industry events, conferences and trade shows.
  • Maintain customer relationships throughout project delivery to drive repeat business.

This role is for someone who understands thebridge, transportation or heavy civil infrastructure market, has established industry relationships, and can hit the ground running. We're looking for someone with the technical credibility to work with engineers and project teams, the relationships to open doors, and the commercial drive to turn opportunities into awarded projects.

What You'll Do

Who We're Looking For

The strongest candidate will bringestablished relationships and a proven track record in the bridge, transportation, heavy civil or infrastructure markets.

You understand how infrastructure projects move from concept and design through bidding, award and construction. You know the industry, know how to build credibility with technical and commercial decision-makers, and understand the value of getting involved before a project reaches the bid stage.

Most importantly, you don't simply wait for opportunities to arrive. Youcreate opportunities, build relationships and win business.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in technical sales, engineering, bridge construction, heavy civil or transportation infrastructure.
  • Existing relationships within the bridge, heavy civil or transportation infrastructure market strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to develop new business and convert opportunities into revenue.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, plans and technical specifications.
  • Strong communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to travel approximately 20%.
  • P.E. licensure is a plus, but not required.
