Business Development Director - Transportation/Logistics

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Business Development Director to join our dynamic team. In this key role, you will be responsible for identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities. You will play a critical role in driving revenue growth and expanding our market share. This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic and entrepreneurial individual to make a significant impact on a growing company. This position is remote.

Responsibilities:

  1. Identify and Develop New Business Opportunities:
    1. Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify potential new clients and market segments.
    2. Develop and execute strategic business development plans to achieve revenue targets.
    3. Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers at prospective clients.
    4. Identify and pursue partnerships and alliances with complementary organizations.
  2. Lead and Manage the Sales Process:
    1. Develop and implement effective sales strategies and processes.
    2. Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals.
    3. Negotiate and close complex deals.
    4. Manage the entire sales cycle from lead generation to contract negotiation and closing.
  3. Market Research and Analysis:
    1. Stay abreast of industry trends and competitive developments.
    2. Analyze market data and identify emerging opportunities.
    3. Develop and maintain a deep understanding of customer needs and pain points.
    4. Develop business models in Excel to plan, execute and iterate on business opportunities.
  4. Team Leadership and Management:
    1. Initially learn our company quickly to develop and prove your game plan.
    2. Increasingly mentor and coach junior sales professionals.
    3. Build and maintain a high-performing sales team.
    4. Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team environment.
  5. Customer Relationship Management:
    1. Build and maintain strong relationships with new clients.
    2. Identify and pursue opportunities for up selling and cross-selling.
    3. Ensure high customer satisfaction and retention.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in business development, sales, or a related field.
  • Own a book of transportation business to call on early in the process.
  • Proven track record of success in exceeding sales targets and achieving revenue goals.
  • Strong understanding of sales methodologies, including consultative selling and solution selling.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience with CRM systems and sales automation tools.
  • Strong leadership, mentorship, and team-building skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred.
